How we rank

Our methodology

Every program on MBA Compass is a real, currently-operating online MBA. We compiled this list from publicly available sources and each school's official website.

  • Accreditation first. 126 of 142 programs are AACSB-accredited — the gold standard held by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide. Use the AACSB filter to narrow to these only.
  • Real figures only. Tuition, duration, acceptance rates come from official sources. Where data isn't published, we show that honestly.
  • State rank is informed by U.S. News, Poets&Quants, and program reputation within each state.
  • No pay-to-rank. Schools cannot buy placement. Revenue comes from advertising only.
Honest by design

What we don't do

The education comparison space is full of misleading funnels. Our rules:

  • No invented testimonials or fake graduate stats.
  • No impersonating schools or accreditation bodies.
  • No selling your data — we don't collect personal information.
  • All outbound links go directly to schools' official pages.

Common questions

Is an online MBA respected by employers?
Yes — especially from AACSB-accredited schools. Many top universities award the same diploma for online and on-campus students, taught by the same faculty. Accreditation and institutional reputation matter most to employers, not delivery format.
How much does an online MBA cost?
Across the programs here, total tuition ranges from roughly $9,500 to $151,000. Public in-state programs sit at the low end; private programs at the high end. Use the tuition slider to set your budget ceiling.
Do I need to take the GMAT?
Most programs now waive or make the GMAT optional — especially for applicants with work experience or a strong GPA. Use the "GMAT optional" filter to see only those programs. Always confirm current policy with the school directly.
How long does an online MBA take?
Most programs here run 12–24 months depending on pace. Some offer self-paced or accelerated tracks. The "Duration" field on each program card shows the typical completion time.
What does AACSB accreditation mean?
AACSB is the most recognized business-school accreditation worldwide, held by fewer than 6% of business schools. It signals rigorous standards for faculty, curriculum, and outcomes. 126 of our 142 programs hold AACSB accreditation.
Can international students enroll?
Many programs welcome international students. Check the "Intl students" and "Visa support" indicators on each card, and the "International students" filter. Always confirm TOEFL/IELTS requirements directly with the school.
How does MBA Compass make money?
Entirely through advertising. We are not affiliated with, paid by, or acting as an agent for any university listed. Schools cannot buy a better ranking. We don't collect or sell personal information.
